The Baptist Chapel, Naunton

Restoration / Extension

This project converts a Grade II listed 19th century Chapel and adjoining school house into a distinctive residence. The building’s character is preserved throughout, with interventions designed to be respectful, lightweight and reversible.

A suspended oak, glass, and steel gallery introduces new accommodation while maintaining openness in the main volume of the chapel, which hosts a freestanding kitchen. In the master bedroom, a discreetly screened bath provides privacy while allowing the upper volume to remain open, celebrating the room’s impressive ceiling height.

While honouring the historic setting, the design reuses existing circulation and openings to create a home with a layout that is both unique and practical.
