Sibford Ferris, Oxfordshire
Conversion of existing Listed Manor House and outbuildings into five apartments and four mews cottages. Demolition of existing unsympathetic recent additions to the Manor House and their replacement by 10 new houses within the Manor grounds. A principal, larger new house stands alone within an existing walled garden while the remaining houses form a series of related courtyards.
The juxtapositioning of these houses and their relationship to this steeply sloping site maximises both views into and out of the scheme and the visual drama of this special location. The new houses and their backdrop of the existing Manor form the interface between countryside and village along a valley edge.
