Upper Slaughter, extension to listed property
Restoration / Extension
On the edge of the Upper Slaughter conservation area, this Grade II listed semi detached property sits within attractively landscaped gardens. Tyack Architects were appointed to reimagine the home’s principal living spaces and strengthening their connection to the gardens while enhancing the building’s architectural coherence.
The project replaces an outdated metal framed conservatory with a bespoke single storey glazed extension, designed to accommodate a new kitchen and family dining space opening directly onto the terrace.
Drawing inspiration from the rare historic saw pit in the entrance courtyard, the structure combines oak framing with a Cotswold stone plinth, creating a grounded yet light filled addition. High level glazing brings generous natural daylight, illuminating the vaulted interior and offering glimpsed views up the hillside.
Respectfully integrated within its heritage context, the new extension elevates the home’s relationship with its gardens while providing a warm, contemporary space for the family.
