New House
The proposed design features elevations that embrace simple, classical proportions and strong symmetry, enriched with traditional Cotswold detailing. External walls will be constructed in rubble stonework paired with precisely cut stone quoins and window surrounds, reinforcing the authenticity and character of the scheme. Additional cut stone elements including dentil moulding to the oversailing eaves and a chamfered plinth at the base contribute to the richness of the architectural expression. Distinctive pediments will frame both the main and garden entrances to evoke a sense of grandeur.
To the south, the open-plan family and living area sits beneath a combination of single-storey pitched roofing and a contemporary flat roof. The flat roof, conceived as a modern interpretation of a classical orangery, projects from the southern gable along the garden elevation and incorporates a prominent roof lantern for natural illumination. Deep-set pivot doors open within a colonnade of cut stone, reinforcing the harmonious relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Roof coverings will utilise reconstituted stone slates, except for the coachhouse and summer house, which are to be finished with blue slate. Rainwater pipes will be colour-matched to the surrounding stone to achieve visual continuity. Window designs follow a traditional aesthetic, with painted timber multi-pane sashes and flush casement dormer windows, the latter featuring lead-clad cheeks. Above the main entrance, an Oeil-de-boeuf window with a moulded surround serves as a focal point.
