Listed Farmhouse, Wyck Rissington, Gloucestershire

Restoration / Extension

Nestled on the edge of Wyck Rissington in the Cotswolds, Greenfields is a Grade II listed 17th–18th century cottage with later extensions, set within mature gardens and farmland. Tyack Architects were commissioned to sensitively modernise and remodel the property, enhancing its function and relationship with the landscape while preserving its historic character.

The scheme included the conversion of an existing garage into guest accommodation, internal reconfiguration to create six spacious en-suite bedrooms, and a new main entrance to improve the home’s approach and circulation. Externally, conservation rooflights, slim-profile windows, and new openings were introduced to increase natural light and visual harmony. A small plant room extension and new stone garden wall were added to strengthen the connection between the building and its setting.

Respecting the cottage’s heritage while updating the modern extensions, the design brings balance, clarity, and continuity to this cherished Cotswold home—creating a refined, cohesive living environment that celebrates both old and new.
