Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire
Having acquired the neighbouring extended cottage and garden, the owners of a secluded and substantial, converted stone barn engaged Tyack Architects to develop a masterplan and to obtain consent to demolish the cottage and provide a new stone extension and guest wing, with landscape design by Jon Uglow of Nicholsons.
In sensitive subservience to the barn, the single storey linking extension provided a formal new entrance hall with basement wine cellar, and integral garaging to the enlarged dwelling, with 1.5 storey guest accommodation replacing the original cottage.
The scheme showcases Tyacks deft skills in high quality Cotswold design, with careful form and stone detailing, traditional roof and glazing forms, along with contemporary structural glazing to the garden link.
